Nimrod Hanai, is a Tanzanian self-taught visual artist, using abstract medium of painting to explore the complexities of human perception of reality. He had passion for painting since childhood but circumstances forced him to take business studies while spending most of his spare time in painting. He faced the unwillingness for his job at a commercial bank and eventually was drawn to painting as a tool of expression. After completing a contemporary art course at the Art School (Academia d'Arte) in the Michelangelo Institute in Florence Italy, He began expanding his abstract practice. His works are made up of a signature painting style which combines fragments of light and darkness, fragments of space and time that request the viewer to be still. He is currently a full time artist living and working in Nairobi, Kenya having taken the leap and left the corporate world to further immerse himself in the artistic. He has exhibited his works at various solo and group exhibitions in Tanzania and Kenya with various planned/upcoming international art fairs. He debuted his first solo show titled “Catalyst” at the Alliance Francaise, Dar es salaam in 2019.
