Anneli Byström

Anneli Byström is a versatile artist with a strong desire to explore and experiment in her creations.

Her primary form of expression is macro photography, where flowers are often the focus. At the same time, she moves freely between different materials and techniques and tests the ultimate possibilities of both the camera and the brush to express her ideas through varying objects, themes and expressions.

In her macro photography work, Anneli prefers to capture spontaneous moments rather than arranged still lifes. She prefers to avoid editing and retouching and lets the motifs speak for themselves – and if any adjustment is required, it is kept as minimal as possible.

In her abstract photography, she invites the viewer to see the world from her perspective – to discover how even the overlooked and undervalued can hold unexpected beauty when you let your gaze rest on the interplay between form, color, background and balance.

Anneli has a special ability to discover the aesthetic and beautiful in almost everything. Withered flowers, graffitied walls or overflowing toilet paper holders can all become motifs where she sees form, color and structure rather than the everyday worn or problematic.
