James Day

My name is James Day. Identifying on the autistic spectrum, I often find it hard to mix with others. Creating art is my self-space where I enter a world of my own making, providing the medium and the canvas to express myself.

In school, my passion began for Surrealism and the fantasies that genre portrays, including the works of Salvador Dali. I started selling paintings in college and have continued for over 20 years. To date, I have received many commissions.

In 2001, I began creating landscape paintings connecting my past with my Irish heritage. Influenced by the works of JMW Turner and Claude Monet, my broad eclectic taste spans from art produced centuries ago right up to the present.

In the 2000s, I painted surreal landscapes and fantasy characters. I still greatly respect Japanese art and cartoons such as Studio Ghibli and Anime.
